i reckons buses should be free of charge and tax on petrol should be higher for motorists. that would be great. more people would bus it and motorists would get pissed off. woo hoo!

g: but what happens when the cost of running the buses outweighs the tax they're getting from cars?

I'm quite happy with my £11 bus pass, personally.

Fare dodger razzia, woohoo. :)

do it really need that many yellow peeps to catch fair dodgers?

That's what I've been wondering.

if a bus ran for the 80 miles I have to drive to work, I'd get one.

teflon says:

They're big buses, with three doors - but that's a lot of people. And two police officers.

critical g says:

i see 8 of them. on perhaps £100 a day. you could buy a bus with that money in a month or two.

teflon says:

Ab, but they were also dishing out quite a few £20 penalty fares, and probably instilling fear into others that they might be caught if they kept on dodging fares.

mat says:

£100/day? You are kidding, yes? I seriously doubt those guys make £27K

20th Oct 2005, 15:25

critical g says:

my mate got a £300 fine on one of those buses. i don't like the fact that you have to get a ticket prior to getting on the bus, eliminating the age old thrill of running for your bus.

critical g says:

just checked a website and conductors only get £16,000.

teflon says:

Ah, just get one of Mayor Ken's personalised tracking devices. It's cheaper that way too.
