I try to make sure to have flour, eggs, sugar, cocoa etc. always in stock, for just this kind of emergency.

Worst case scenario, there's always the big tin of golden syrup* and a spoon.

* yes, that is a dead, rotting lion on the tin. Their motto is 'out of the strong came forth sweetness'

sounds a bit much to be eating any kind of syrup, straight, but, with packaging like that, wow.

really. wow. I would buy almost anything with a rotting lion on it, that wasn't actually rotting lion. or. hmm. might have to think on that a bit more.

Helen says:

Hmmmm. Golden syrup is most eatable out of the tin. They now have sqeazy bottles so you can squirt straight to mouth.

The advantage of living with someone from Switzerland is that there's always some chocolate around...

Entropy acceleration device: you need a fan. One of yer proper foldy bamboo-and-paper Far Eastern jobs. I think they're great, and carry one around constantly in summer.

I do the golden syrup thing. Only very occassionally, like once every 18 months or so. But it's nice to know it's there, just in case.

I used to do the chocolate cake thing but I've given it up - I think that chocolate cake was solely responsible for the extra weight I'm now working to lose :(

I tend to do the steamed-pud-in-the-microwave thing cos it takes about five minutes and it great with custard :)

26th Oct 2005, 12:28

beth says:

steamed puds are great. because they're in a sealed can and they have that 'got to use a piece of machinery in it - can't be bothered- laziness about them. but they are a bit nasty in an 'ive been in a tin a long while' chemical way.

seaneeboy says:

No no no, but those tin pud things were a big source of yummyness in my student days :)

I mean flour egg and sugar marge in a bowl in a microwave and covered in custard - yum!
