I really enjoyed The Life of Pi - I hear it's being moviefied.

I think they'll be carrying the bird flu back from the South, so we've got a few more months before we need to panic :)

Crickson> Life of Pi was great. I read it in two evenings, which is always a good sign for a book. I've just the The Curious Incident now, so that's the next one on my list.

really lovely shot.

Thanks Alexis! It's a pity my camera wasn't a better res, but the sky was very atmospheric, and a huge flock went straight over my head, so had to take a snap.

glad you did. 's nice. I keep thinking about getting one of the insanely nice camera-mobiles that are more powerful as cameras than phones. : )

it reminded me that I wasn't *exactly* sure where vancouver was, so I google mapped it. I knew it was somewhere above the US, on the west coast, I didn't realize it was only 2 hours from Everett, WA. I also hadn't really thought about driving to Alaska, but, now I have more motivation for automobile purchasing.

Curious incident is a fantastic book - I actually found it very moving. You'll enjoy that one.

Alexis> yeah, Hopefully I'll be getting a better cameraphone soon. I'm pretty close to the States actually. I can see Mount Baker from work, which is in WA. Seattle is a 2 hour drive south. I want to go to Alaska too!! Apparently the best time to see the Northern lights is now, but that's just because it's dark 24/7 at the mo. Not sure that appeals to me for a holiday though; I may try and go in that short time when they actually have a day and a night! On an unrelated note, isn't googlemap fantastic?!? Love the satellite photos.

Crickson> Yeah, I'd been meaning to read it for ages actually. I read it last night, and thought it was great! Not sure which book to go for now. I've got one called the house of sleep that's supposed to be good (ironically my friend lent it too me to read because I'm a bit of an insomniac at the moment).

I'm still reading Fast Food Nation - It's very very good, more astonishing than someing like 'Supersize Me' and in much the same vein as No Logo but up-to-date. If I finish it before xmas you are welcome to borrow it.
