jesus dude. you've been coding your ass off i see!
will try it when i get home...
drag and drop the downloaded extension file into your extensions panel (Tools>extensions) that worked for me!
JOE YOU RUUUUUUUUUUULE!! Just used the tag function and good god its just so damn awesome mate.
goode, thought i tried that, abvioulsy i was just being a retard,
JOE, you do in fact rule, ill have to buy you that pint on monday night
Joe rules teh moblog!
You might want to explain on your page that the best way to install the extension is to download it, then drag/drop it into the extensions box under tools>extensions as Goode suggested above.
Like Spike I was confused as it didn't auto-install like extensions from the Mozilla website.
niiiice. I'm on the case for getting you access to the mbUK web code, btw. :)
Daz: Firefox is thankfully platform independant, so yes it will work on the mac version...
James, I'll do that this evening, I'm still trying to work out what the extensions site does that makes it autoinstall, the links appear to be normal links *shrugs*, but yes thanks, I'll put instructions up.
Spike, you FUCKING KNOW I'm gonna hold you to that pint :D
and thanks everyone...mat I await with bated breath :)
Joe, that is HAWT. I love Firefox already -- this just cements my love even more.
onceupon, download it to your desktop, then open the extensions window (Tools->extensions) and drag the file to the extensions window, it should install
Huh.... Still doesn't work. I had to upgrade my Firefox and it STILL isn't registering the extension when I drag it to the Extensions window.... It seems to be downloading an empty file for some reason.
what version of firefox are you using? the xpi file should be about 5k, you can always try File->Open and browse to the file
If you need me to email you the file, I can do that.
I looooove it!
Onceupon,
File
Open file..
Click on the file! it will load in just fine, I had the same problem
Joe, Steve, thank you both -- finally managed to get it working and it is LOVELY. Joe, you're brilliant.
I'm just trying to get my head around the auto update thingy, so when I release a new version it will let you all know, also, if anyone fancies doing a 32x32 pixel icon for it...I'm crap at stuff like that.
Joe, you looking for just basic icons? Something like these or better? Personal favourites are 1 and 4...

i likes.. now i'm gonna have to use firefox :) ... only i'd like it if once you'd done the tags it goes back to my main blog page so i can get on with doing the other million tags i've forgotten to do :)
like tags prompt - don't have to do that annoying preview and can see more of previously used tags so don't have to guess which one is right!
Editing note - separate not seperate
Be Jabbers! Looks like about 98% of my moblog needs tagging! Best get cracking...
nice extension you have there Joe ... ahem! :)
but beth, if you use the previous/next links, it's even faster....it's ace that you're all using it, I kind of did it for me, and never expected anyone else to use it really....now I just need ideas for more functionality....personally I like Steve's "cat filter" idea
or limiting tag searches to friends only for when moblog's full of joes and alfies and beths
hmm thats a server side thing, which, when mat gives me access to the code, shouldn't be too difficult, the imagewall is a much underused feature in my opinion
the tag search needs refining a bit, it is only in beta though, so thats fair....we need favourite galleries, and highlight galleries, and personalised front pages...and...and...
yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of what you could do with the search script, so forget tags, even a search field image gallery output would be interesting...
explain Alf? not quite sure what you mean....like display all images that match the search criteria as an image wall?
yeah - since tags are server side you might want to wait to expend the obvious effort it would take to do, but pashing an imagewall out of search results should be pretty cool too - but then again, actually *doing* a search and checking out the results I see that no, it'd be pretty crap ;)
oh I don't know, I think the tag search is actually pretty good, especially when you can do stuff like www.moblog.co.uk/tag/lomo?rss
features like this need documenting and exploiting more
an imagewall from tags would be pretty cool though.
beth, limiting who can see comments is potentially very difficult, even if you're going to use exclusion rules rather than inclusion rules, for example, anyone can see my comments, except the public and Joe. The problem with this, is that every time a person loads a page, the system has to check if they have permission to view every comment, if there are 200 comments, thats quite a lot of processing, times that by 5000 users and the poor server starts having fits.....
joe, sorry I meant normal search not tags, tags on mbuk are pretty great.
Joooooeeeeee! I just installed the new version of Firefox (1.5) released this evening and it would appear it's not friends with you moblog extension and disabled it!
Is there any chance you'll be able to update/fix this at any point....or is all hope lost?
James
I've updated the extension, to now work with FF 1.5, you can get version 0.5.1 of the extension from www.thepoweroften.co.uk/greasemonkey
awesome - have you given any thought to the mod issue of being able to add tags to anyones post? Or is that after you've looked at code-base etc?
I haven't looked at it at all to be honest, it's something I do need to do though...possibly after I go through the wonderous moblog code and see exactly how mat has developed this brilliant place.
