I bought myself a fan heater yesterday. It seems to convert more energy into noise than heat, but it's a start.

I've yet to discover if setting the switch from 'Low' to 'High' does anything other than make the fan smell a bit.

Mine acts the same way. I should probably read the manual at some point and see what it says. I think I'm going to by a cheap electric oil radiator soon though Keeps it heat longer after you switch it off and all.

Two problems with oil radiators:
1. they're quite heavy, and I had to get it home on the bus. (Actually I ended up on two buses, the tube, and a train to get home faster, but I could have stayed on the same bus)
2. John Lewis had sold out of their oil heaters, and were fast running out of fan heaters too.

Wait till the fat gets red! That's what happened to mine. Better not leave it on when you leave !

I meant "fan" (not "fat"). The N's not even close to the T on the keyboard; how did I do that?
