This is my personal blog, not a venue for saleable images. In fact, because it's here that I share things that are important to me with the members of the moblog community, photo quality's not my priority. Events, occasions, achievements, thoughts, trips and experiments - you'll find them all here. Contact me for the development version of my photo portfolio, for a selection of saleable images or visit my dance photography blog or my website for cuttings. And remember that all photos remain my copyright unless I've specifically said otherwise.

"Never to get lost is not to live, not to know how to get lost brings you to destruction, and somewhere in the terra incognita in between lies a life of discovery."
........ Rebecca Solnit

"Give, give, give -- what is the point of having experience, knowledge or talent if I don't give it away? Of having stories if I don't tell them to others? Of having wealth if I don't share it? I don't intend to be cremated with any of it! It is in giving that I connect with others, with the world and with the divine."
........ Isabel Allende

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs - ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive."
........ Harold Thurman Whitman

"The real voyage of discovery consists not of seeing new landscapes, but in having new eyes...."
........ Marcel Proust

"It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them.. you have no such accurate remembrance of a country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle...."
........ Ernest Hemingway

"Ambition leads me not only father than any other man has been before me, but as far as I think it is possible for man to go."
........ James Cook

"The grand show is enternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapour is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls."
........ John Muir

"The bicycle is the most civilised conveyance known to man. Other forms of transport grow daily more nightmarish. Only the bicycle remains pure in heart."
........ Iris Murdoch

"Photography for me is not looking, it's feeling. If you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your picture...."
........ Don McCullin

Izadora says:

daz, you know what mothers are like ;-)
they can't say bad things about their daughters
mums are the best PR agents in the world!

7th Feb 2006, 17:58

daz says:

Errr, I take it you have not met MY mum then. ;)

(For example, she managed to yell at me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. we talked on the phone... while I was 16 and spending a year all alone on a different friggin' continent!)

7th Feb 2006, 18:01

Dhamaka says:

Daz - you probably know that's mother-speak for I love you and I'm worried about you and I miss you! Trouble is that most of our parents' generation aren't very good at emotional stuff

(edit) that's why a mum will scream at her toddler if he runs in the road. She's too scared for him to react any other way

7th Feb 2006, 18:05

Izadora says:

aww.. i'm sorry :( maybe not ALL mothers

well, i should let you borrow my mother then :)

7th Feb 2006, 18:05

7th Feb 2006, 18:06

Izadora says:

7th Feb 2006, 18:07

daz says:

Dhamaka: She made a transatlantic call specifically to yell at me for supposedly being responsible for the cat getting sick because I HAD LET HIM SPEND A NIGHT OUTSIDE THE WINTER BEFORE. (This was in October...) I felt so loved and missed. ;)

Izadora: Oh, I'd love to borrow yours. :)

7th Feb 2006, 18:10

Dhamaka says:

Could do.

Have to say I spent ages trying to get the cat to make enough noise to wake Daz up because of something she once said, but Misha has such a tiny voice that I gave up in the end :(

Izadora - do you think we could rent me out? You could be my PR and we'd have enough money to.. for example.. for you to go to Texas...

7th Feb 2006, 18:12

Izadora says:

that sounds like a great idea
let's come up with a plan

Feeling emotional tonight and that makes me so sad Daz
worry that my girls are too central to my life!
Your Mum must have big problems - but that's no help to you!
Love yourself - it's really important - and accept the love you're given
