What is it with Showcase Cinemas having huge, empty and generally dull lobbies? What could they possibly want all that space for?

yeah i was gonna say people.
but yeah they plan for the max amount of people they can hold in the theaters and make a lobby big enough to hold all of those people just in case

It's still better than the design status in Greece, where everything is designed as if it would fail as an investment (small spaces, small parking) and then when it doesn't the customers are packed like socks in a laundry basket.
