Well, this started out as a way that my wife could follow my lone progress in my little sports car from Birmingham UK to Orkney.

Been there, done that 2 day there, 13hour return trip.

So now follow me: an Englishman representing Americans and based in a French office near Paris. With an appartment in Versailles and trips back to the UK anything can happen and, frankly, I've no idea where this will lead!

Sensible people, the French, but don't tell them I said so!

If you head to Paris from the Calais EuroTunnel by going in the opposite direction to the way the signs to Paris take you, you'll actually get there quicker.
The weekend before last I took the A16 and, having got the train that arrived in Calais about 10:30pm, I saw no more than 8 lorries and 5 cars on the whole motorway (that's more than 2 hours' driving!). They even have a British lane on the Payage (at the Calais end, anyway).
I can't see them being so thoughtful in the UK. Sure the EuroTunnel has booths for both British and European cars, but as soon as he's away from the port Jonny Foreigner is on his own. Not complaining though, The EuroTunnel works a treat.
