Apparently this area is the only desert area in Canada, and stretches
from here to Mexico.

yup, the desert stretches right down the continent.

More importantly, this place is where most Canadian wine comes from (although there are also lots of vineyards around Niagra). I didn't get to go on a wine tour though, because we got a flat tire :o(

Yeah, Mission Hill wines are pretty good. That's also one of the biggest vineyards in the Okanagan. I drove past it in West Bank.

I rather like the Sumac Ridge merlot. Been drinking a lot of different BC wines recently.
