Plants, plants and more plants!

Maybe a bit over-anxious -- we went ahead and purchased most of the plants, the rest we're bringing up from the back patio area.. I'm SO excited, almost makes up for the broken pipe and the sunburn.

Red Ti Sister, variagated Lariope, Purple Queen, Fire Croton (which you can't really see from this angle) -- and some new hedge/shrubs which isn't viburnum or boxwood or sanchezia but Bighead insists it'll work, I forget the name.

There really are a ton of plants on the patio, I'm most excited to see the Date Palm move.. man oh man.

So he's fixing the pipe, which is good, at least he's excited about it. He's been invited to go to Orlando on Sunday and watch a leg of the PGA tour, I know he'd love to go, and now I kinda feel bad that this project has been started -- he's making a rock drainage area for the gutter drain area -- I have a feeling I'm going to be mulching alone on Sunday.

Okay, so.. now it's time to mix the compost in with the soil, get everything ready and excavate the plants from the back area and bring them forward. I'm also going to break up the lariope that was growing into smaller plants since it propagates so quickly -- and then it's time to lay out the plants in their spots and begin the planting. I don't think the actual planting is going to happen til in the morning, we're going to be moving the Palm first.

If anyone is wondering why this is so exciting for me and why I'm writing so much about it -- I don't really know what to tell you. There is such a larger variety of plants here in Florida as opposed to Oklahoma; I never much got into flowers and gardening, but the plants here are just so luscious and beautiful and flowing and colorful, they really can be the difference in an okay looking yard and a Florida tropical feeling paradise. We shall see.

(Also -- my Mom and possibly my Mother-in-Law are reading this, and they don't live in Tampa, so -- this is my way of sharing with them what's goin on, that, and trying to convince vallie to MOVE.)

I have dirt under my nails and my shoulders are red. Worth it!
