The DD is watching Dr Who. Note the proximity of Daddy, the green checked
cushion ready to be held over her face and the nail biting! I love this
picture!

Dhamaka says:

That brings back memories. I used to watch Dr Who through the gap between door and hinges so that the Daleks couldn't get me.. that ages me, doesn't it!

(edit) and you're right, it's a lovely shot. Especially with the context

22nd Apr 2006, 20:20

Twiglet says:

I think I can remember all but the very first Dr. I can also remember watching it through a crack in the door and with a cushion over my face! But I soon outgrew it and I hardly watched any of the Christopher Ecclestone series and none of this one. However, I will always watch it if there are Daleks and apparently in this series there will be Cybermen. My own personal favourite Dr Who enemy tho' has got to be the Ice Warriors and it is my fervent hope that they will make an appearance.

22nd Apr 2006, 20:43

Dhamaka says:

To be honest I was getting bored by the time of the Ice Warriors, but I've enjoyed all the new Dr Who series - even the really really bad ones

Thinking of press ganging friends into a Dr Who weekend...

22nd Apr 2006, 20:45

Twiglet says:

The Beloved might be up for it, he has "Time Lord" on his CV.

22nd Apr 2006, 20:49

mattbritton says:

It's a great picture - and I know where the fear was coming from. It was really scary tonight!!!

22nd Apr 2006, 20:50

Twiglet says:

D'you know Matt, sometimes I feel like the only person in the UK who doesn't watch it!

22nd Apr 2006, 20:52

Dhamaka says:

will let you (and hence BelovedSpaceman) know if I manage it

... I thought it was a bit predictable tonight, and didn't really run to the Dr Who format, which is, of course, the whole point...

22nd Apr 2006, 20:53

Twiglet says:

DD went to bed well satisfied and terrified!

22nd Apr 2006, 20:56

Dhamaka says:

:-)
whereas I'm up and wondering if I can be bothered to go out at all tonight

22nd Apr 2006, 20:57

Twiglet says:

Go! Have you seen the shite that's on TV?

BTW I've changed the title of this even though I DON'T BLOODY WATCH DR WHO!

22nd Apr 2006, 20:59

Dhamaka says:

actually Dr Who is the only thing I watch

(sad or what...)

:D

22nd Apr 2006, 21:00

Dhamaka says:

btw I noticed

22nd Apr 2006, 21:00

Twiglet says:

DD wouldn't think so!

22nd Apr 2006, 21:01

Dhamaka says:

she has excellent taste

22nd Apr 2006, 21:03

FilbertFox says:

i remember doing that as well. Great photo.

22nd Apr 2006, 21:13

Dhamaka says:

so that's how the critics make their decisions... now I know...

22nd Apr 2006, 21:20

Twiglet says:

DD said Queen Victoria was in it so did it not also feature that famous Scot John Brown?

22nd Apr 2006, 21:20

Dhamaka says:

she wasn't a very convincing Queen

22nd Apr 2006, 21:21

Twiglet says:

Oh dear, how disapointing for all of you who watched it! And was the werewolf convincing?

22nd Apr 2006, 21:23

Dhamaka says:

no, but the baddies aren't supposed to be convincing for grownups - that's part of the formula

22nd Apr 2006, 21:25

Twiglet says:

DD reckons it was allergic to mistletoe. Must be a bit of a bummer at Christmas.

22nd Apr 2006, 21:28

Dhamaka says:

it thought it was, but it wasn't really.. the priests taught it to think it was

(told you I was sad)

22nd Apr 2006, 21:29

Dhamaka says:

didn't like concentrated moonlight much though

22nd Apr 2006, 21:29

Twiglet says:

Not that I'm interested or anything (as I don't watch it) but don't they only come out on a full moon? Wouldn't not liking moonlight also be a bit of a bummer?

22nd Apr 2006, 21:32

Dhamaka says:

That's part of your basic Dr Who formula. The solution always has to be naff - but yes, he/she/it became a werewolf on the full moon but then they concentrated it using what looked like (a clever bit of budget management) an old telescope backwards and woosh! up he/she/it went.

I'd like to know how he/she/it managed to howl after loosing his/her/its body (including mouth and vocal chords) though

22nd Apr 2006, 21:35

matt says:

The explanation for that was that humans need water, but can still drown. - There are no holes in the cunning Dr Who plots! ;)

OOps - not the explanation for what you asked Dhamaka - Boy these threads can get confusing.

22nd Apr 2006, 21:35

Dhamaka says:

really...

must have missed that bit

22nd Apr 2006, 21:36

FilbertFox says:

i liked the notion of the royal family turning into werewolves with each passing generation, and that broadcast the day after Big Q's birthday

23rd Apr 2006, 14:26

JokerXL says:

Lovely shot Twigs!

23rd Apr 2006, 16:17

Twiglet says:

Thanks Joker. Only trouble is the Beloved looks a bit beardy weirdy in it and he's not really. Just stubbly weirdy!!

23rd Apr 2006, 16:32

Dhamaka says:

that tickled me FF, and since I've seen no other comment I guess they were not amused either

23rd Apr 2006, 21:08

Dhamaka says:

also nice that they've set up a new set of bad guys for whenever they run out of ideas

23rd Apr 2006, 21:08

Dhamaka says:

yep

23rd Apr 2006, 21:16

DocD says:

Bit too frentic for me. Da old Doc Who was geniunely creepy sometimes - particularly Pertwee/Baker era. It doesn't need to cram as much in to 45min.Two/three/four parters much better as it gives the characters time to breath and develop.

Fav episode is 'Planet of the Spiders' in 1974

23rd Apr 2006, 21:29

FilbertFox says:

Baker IS Dr Who to many people. I would had liked to have seen ecclestone stick at it and develop the character i reckon he could have been good

23rd Apr 2006, 22:17

Dhamaka says:

me too :(

25th Apr 2006, 19:26

Twiglet says:

According to nest week's RT two old friends turn up in next Saturday's episode. One of them is the robot doggie K9, the other is one of the former Dr Who girls. Does this mean we're loosing the wondrous Billie/Rose? SHOCK HORROR!

25th Apr 2006, 20:10

Dhamaka says:

Are we converting you?

25th Apr 2006, 20:37

Twiglet says:

While Dr Who is on is the only time DD actually shuts up. You don't think I would waste this unaccustomed peace and quiet watching a childrens' TV programme do you??

25th Apr 2006, 20:39

Dhamaka says:

so you love it!

25th Apr 2006, 20:40

Twiglet says:

I thought Christopher E was HAWT and that Bi-Sexual bloke.....

25th Apr 2006, 20:50

Dhamaka says:

aha

25th Apr 2006, 20:52

Twiglet says:

ESheep; I thought you were having a larf because I called it a childrens' programme but I asked the Beloved and he verified this. For goodness sake, whatever next, an appearance by the Clangers!?

*Does Clanger speak*

26th Apr 2006, 20:55

K9 IS IN THE NEXT ONE!!! i like k9 he was great. the queen was really rubbish and they did the whole people need water they drown thing in litrally 30 seconds so its not hard to miss.

26th Apr 2006, 20:59

oh and the pic is priceless

26th Apr 2006, 20:59

Rich says:

The first episode was bobbins, but last saturday's was fantastic.
I dunno, I'm torn by the new format: Done well it's superb, all the excitement with none of the flab, endless pointless capture/escape subplots that would pad out episode three in Original Who. It wouldn't work nowadays with the old 25 minute format. But... It just isn't the same without cliffhangers. I hear there are three two-parters this season, which is excellent... I dunno. They should just make more episodes.

Still! K9 on saturday! They're going to be making an animated K9 series, too. Should be fun.

26th Apr 2006, 21:03

Twiglet says:

I suppose K9 will be the "must have" toy next Christmas. Should go well with our collection of daleks and our easter egg box Tardis. Can't bleedin' wait.

26th Apr 2006, 21:05

Twiglet says:

Sorry Bmal, missed your comment about the pic. Thanks, it's now my favourite picture of her ever!
