These have worked before, trouble is they make me feel fuzzy next day.

wildrainbows says:

Twiglet says:

I've used them before once or twice. Nytol do one called "one a night" or somesuch as opposed to these which are 2 a night. The one a nights work really well but I'm sure I got addicted!

I find a bottle of wine and several pints of Guinness works pretty well.

Twiglet says:

Don't try to seduce me with alcohol SFG, you know I don't.

I don't have any problem getting to sleep, I just can't seem to stay that way at the mo, it's a pain, too much on my mind....

sslovetub says:

I'll second the bottle of wine and/or multiple Guinness, works every time for me. I could sleep through a nuke after a skinful

sslovetub says:

Having said that probably not the best way to get yourself into a regular sleep pattern eh? I think Mr Liver and his friends might have a few complaints..

5th May 2006, 22:37

Twiglet says:

Maybe the nuke would be the answer....

FilbertFox says:

i have a similar problem from time to time. The best cure for me is to get up and watch infomercials or shopping tv - its so bad you have to sleep to escape from it

Advice from a long-time insomniac - get to your local homopath/health food shop/Neal's yard, and ask for a bottle of Valerian Tincture. 25 drops of that in water 20 mins before bed, you'll sleep like a baby* and feel refreshed in the morning. It's proper sleep too, not like you get with knockout drugs.

* only without the waking up crying, wetting yourself and puking. so not much like a baby.

Dazzle_Dust: Name me an occassion when you have seen me pissed or even merry.

FFox: I'm on a whole shit load of essential medication all the time. I know it makes me some kind of social oddity but alcohol does not agree with me. I smoke though, that's one addiction too many.

Mat: Thanks. I need something to keep me asleep from about 11 pm until 6 am. I will try your suggestion.

6th May 2006, 18:31

FilbertFox says:

sorry twiggers for not believing you. i am a very infrequent drinker myself and do not think its odd that when someone doesn't drink at all. Shopping channel is seriously good for making me fall asleep, it is so bad

Twiglet says:

I've got a book called "Jesus the evidence" that has me out like a light, but I wake up too early.

6th May 2006, 21:08

FilbertFox says:

i did that this morning, then had a realisation i had forgotten to do something at work yesterday and will be 'in trouble' on monday, then couldn't get back to sleep for 4 hours due to 'fretting'!

6th May 2006, 21:13

paintist says:

'Parliment today' gets me off to sleep but then i wake up when the radio switches off.....camomile tea is my choice of the moment....valerian can give you cracking headaches, be careful with strength....

Mat sez: "get to your local homopath/health food shop"

Sounds a bit of a queer solution to me.

It's worth investigating some self hypnosis/stress management techniques - I find them very helpful and they've gotten me through many a stressful time.
