I have a Ghibli box set. Everything they did up to (but not including) Spirited Away. £35 well spent on eBay, that was.

Totoro is good, but it's not as good as Nausicca or Laputa, imo.

We really enjoyed Spirited Away, but Howl's Moving Castle was plotless rubbish...

I vote for Totoro.
I believe, since Miyazaki is so self-repetative, his best movie is the one you saw first. My biggest problem with the Moving Castle was the amount of recognisable motifs.

I like Totoro, and I love the Catbus that features in it. It was the first Miyazaki film I saw, and is special in that way. However, I would put both Laputa and Spirited Away just a bit above it... But that's just my opinion :)
