Made bearable tonight because the insubtantial Time Lord was hardly in it at
all, and there was ELO music for old farts like me!

ookiine says:

The 2005 season ended last week (in the US) and I need to see the 2006 one NOW!!!!!!!

Twiglet says:

Well ookiine, according to my family you won't be dissapointed although I rarely watch it. However Helen, I did tonight and found it fairly amusing but as you say spoofy.

Rich says:

That was the worst piece of television I've ever seen.

17th Jun 2006, 20:01

Twiglet says:

Despite the ELO I do think it was aimed at the younger audience tonight. Although in my opinion it will always be a childrens programme.

ookiine says:

Never got into the Doctor when it was on our local PBS station when I was young. I might of watched it a few times, but that was it.

And then Sci-Fi starts airing the 2005 series and I got hooked!

Twiglet says:

Bad news for you ookiine if you're a Rose Tyler/ Billie Piper fan. DD tells me she's leaving the series.

DeanDare says:

I gotta agree with Rich it was an awlful Doctor Who, in fact most of this series has benn uttter tripe, but love piccies of DD though

Rich says:

Nah, the rest of this series has been mostly OK. I think a lot of the old-school fans have taken offence at the tone of some of the episodes, but it's been good. It's not our show anymore Dean, it's for Ver Kids, and Ver Kids love it dearly. Suckers. Still, this weeks was terrible, not even Doctor Who. Doctor Who should, y'know, be about the Doctor, I don't want to hear about the lives of Danny from Hustle and his sitcom supporting character mates, and having Peter "desperately unconvincing if made to play something other than a cuddly northern stereotype" Kay in it... Guh.

I hope the kid that designed the monster had the stuffing kicked out of him on Monday.

21st Jun 2006, 12:41

Twiglet says:

Although I rarely watch it I've got to agree with Rich about Peter Kay. He only has the one role, that of a chubby Northerner.

21st Jun 2006, 13:07

DeanDare says:

Yep but he does play that role brilliantly, as for doctor who yep it isn't our show anymore rich but I am very afraid it is so right on that in 4 years time no one will remember it any more

21st Jun 2006, 19:37

Rich says:

Naaaaaaah, this'll live on forever, far too good a marketting opportunity otherwise. I'm mainly just glad it's been returned to it's rightful place as the kid's favorite that adults also love, as it was the Old Fandom was getting increasingly baroque and irrelevant and smelling of piss. As for the old series, well, I love it, but I can barely watch it anymore. it's mostly awful.

21st Jun 2006, 20:14

Helen says:

And David Tennant, sigh.

Actually, I miss Ecclestone. But he would have become boring.

The monster in the last episode was so rubbish, even the Doctor couldn't be bothered to turn up for it... So why should we have bothered? And Moaning Myrtle surely can speak in some other way? Next week, special guest appearance by Daniel Radcliffe (for ver kids).
