This is London, not Antartica, so why don't the tubes run all night,
You are my Girlfriend, not Molly Ringwald, so why won't you stay here tonight,
This is sixth form poetry not Keats or Yeats, and now we find the part that we both hate.

We love the city because it lets us down, We love the city NOT the suburbs that surround.
We love all the dirty things, that lead us to think, that maybe true love could be found.
We love the city because its how we live, We love the city cause it never loves us back.
We love it all because sometimes, even though they're hard to find, it contains all the virtues we lack.

(Hefner "We Love The City")

AAAARGH!

About a month ago my landlord decided that he didn't want to renew our lease for next year and we have to be out by the end of july. Two weeks ago I was told all of us fixed-term contract staff would have to interview for contract extensions and that they weren't sure how many jobs there would be. On friday they told us that we'd also be competing for jobs with people from another company that used to do a contract that we've just taken over. They've just made me do a 15 minute personality test which didn't exactly fill me with confidence. Oh, and my mum's house still isn't sold, and someone I know (not very well, but who is a lovely, great, creative and talented guy) has been diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Life, could you just please sort yourself out for a bit? Please. I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

That's a big bottom lip are you not happy? or is it because you are up side down?

kel says:

Yeah, to be honest, being the right way up gravity wise could be the start to solving a few things... :)

Steve says:

Sorry to hear all that, wanna say that things can't get much worse but that maybe tempting fate

They're clearly wanting us to be very flexible.

kel says:

Yes... i wasnt going to rant, but I'm sitting here trying to prepare for tomorrow's interview and getting annoyed.

Just trying to take it one step at a time... just so much of it is out of my control! All i can do about the friend is wish him well and let him know i'm thinking of him, but it never quite seems enough, does it?

kel says:

tef- yeah I noticed that!

beth says:

aw kel.. good luck with all that. life has a way of having to work itself out though.

540air says:

That sucks. Try not to let it get to you too much though. Like beth said, it'll all work out in the end.

20th Jun 2006, 11:53

kel says:

It will... i'd just like some damn stability for once!

Hopefully some of these things will all turn out for the better and the job situation will be a kick up the backside and a step to me really working out what I want from life. I'm just soooo tired of making decisions.

Viv says:

It wouldn't be so bad if there was real choice in the decisions - its making decisions when nothing is what you really want that saps the life out of you!
You'll find a way out of that maze sometime!

beth says:

yes rubbish to be constantly trying for the best of a bad bunch and still feeling like you're not good enough.. i know that only too well. part of me thinks we should have a revolution.

20th Jun 2006, 12:21

kel says:

indubitably.

i've just found another library job and wondering if i really want to apply for it, or if i'm just feeling a bit desperate...

bring on the revolution!

I'm sorry kel
Here's hoping that this is the end of a frustrating cycle and the beginning of a fantastic, fun new one

ah, fret not, stuff will work itself out somehow. it always does.

at least your hair looks great. :)

20th Jun 2006, 13:50

kel says:

why thank you mat... it's getting chopped off on friday but I'm trying to keep it nice for tomorrow.
(Although Hair isn't one of the competencies on that list above, damn!)

Salome says:

Aw Kel. As always, anything, anything I can do. I saw a job for a volunteer camera person filming at a gorilla sanctuary in Africa? No money but you wouldn't have to worry about where to live for 3-5 months and there'd be monkeys...

20th Jun 2006, 14:17

kel says:

aw, cheers mate. living with monkeys is tempting. I'm sure they'd be tidier than me, anyway!

What hair product do you use?

Even though you're upside down, it's still very much heading the way it should[n't]!
