Knowledge pursues me but I am faster.......

If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, then baffle them with bullshit.......

.......One day, we will look back on this, laugh nervously, and change the subject…

Only in our dreams are we free. The rest of the time we need wages.

Yes, well, we realised we didn't have a megaphone ....... and you proved an excellent substitute .... like we knew you would ......

5th Aug 2006, 17:54

MaggieD says:

Thanks Bmal, Nige, Beth and Swamprose ..... it was a very large demo (200,000 at least) considering it was quite a last minute thing (I only knew about it by email on Thursday eve) .... if nothing else it certainly highlighted the extent of the opposition ........

Sue says:

Very flattering one of me.

seaneeboy says:

Interesting to hear it was that big - the reports on the telly are that the organisers saying 100,000 turned up, the police are saying just 15,000!

5th Aug 2006, 19:04

MaggieD says:

Well, it took an hour and a half + to leave Speakers' Corner (we waited at the front and joined the end) .... always like to see the full extent of the demo, having had many years experience of demos leaving from the same place, I would estimate between 150,000 to 200.000+, if the organisers say 100,000 then I concur ... perhaps I was just being over optimistic .......

5th Aug 2006, 19:12

Viv says:

very good turnout anyway

Gael says:

Maggie, thanks for going - i feel bad that I couldn't make it; let's hope it makes a difference

5th Aug 2006, 19:35

MaggieD says:

Don't feel bad! .... there were some very inspiring sights ... a whole group of hassidic jews carrying a banner saying ' Judaism against Zionism' .... I have been on many demos over the past (25 years!) and I must say this one has been one of the most impressive ..... called at such short notice .... in the middle of the holiday season .... and such a turn out .....

Why do you always put yourself lurking in the background when you are the most upfront of motivators?Sue told me about this
