"And as you cross the circle line,
Well the ice wall creaks behind
You're a rabbit on the run.
And the silver splinters fly
In the corner of your eye,
Shining in the setting sun.
Well do you ever get the feeling
That the story's too damn real
And in the present tense.
Or that everbody's on the stage
And it seems like you're the only
Person sitting in the audience

Skating away, skating away, skating away On the thin ice of the new day"

along with the company that combines an ayurvedic orientation with some of the worse (allowable) chemicals that we're coincidentally already getting far too much of...

well spotted though

Hmmm, I had no idea. I'm not familiar with Aveda at all. The office building looked empty to me.

Feel free to rant all you like. You'd feel better, and I'd learn something. :)

hmm... I guess venting can be good for you.

OK - Sodium Laurel Sulphate or Sodium Laureth Sulphate are in nearly everything. Toothpaste, clothes washing powder, shampoo, soap etc. Apparently it does something to the consistency of things that makes them nicer ... forgotten exactly what.

Each individual cosmetic, cleaner or whatever that uses it tests it for safety of course, and it's safe - in those doses. But you'll find it's one of the principal components of nearly everything you use, which multiplies the dose by a factor of literally hundreds..

And at such huge concentrations many investigations say it's not a nice component at all. Depending on the English Language research it is considered anything from a bit dodgey to carcinogenic in the extreme - but 4 or 5 years ago the Italians had already started the process of banning it.

On to Ayurvedic stuff in a mo ... need to take a breather

Ayurvedic medicine is an integrated philosophy including pathology, lifestyle, philosophy etc - everything.

You need to know what balance of humours and elements your body is / or has before anything can be done to help you. This isn't something that can be bought off the shelf.

I don't know enough to know the efficacy of Ayurvedic medicine and only went to Aveda because it had a reputation for having pure constituents with nothing added.. While I admit I haven't checked their products for 2 years, this was absolutely not the case when I did, but the 'philosophy' and constituents of Ayurvedic medicine are used / suggested throughout the product set, which imo lures people into a false sense of security.

*rant over

I'm familiar with Ayurvedic medicine, and certainly products containing tons of chemicals don't fit. I try to limit the amount of products with SLS, but it can be very hard to do. Probably the worst amount of it is in shampoo. I rarely wear makeup, and don't have an abundance of cosmetics. When I do buy, though, I pay attention to ingredients, whether or not it is animal tested, and so forth. The little things count.

thx

that has made me think I need a punchball, which I guess is progress...

A punchball is good. So is one of those stress doll thingies you can stab pins into.

I think you're right. The hair dye I use has it in so I try and avoid it in everything else at all costs. The trouble is when you avoid that you have to be careful not to take products with titanium instead. I've found just 2 shampoos and 1 kind of toothpaste that doesn't have either, and it's getting harder to find them all the time

Nah - tried stress doll thingies, they don't work with me. Sheer repetitive physical activity that I can think behind of, maybe that'll work...

Ever tried kickboxing? ;) I know what you mean about good products. We used an organic, no freaky chemicals toothpaste for years, and recently found out they sold their small company to colgate (or crest, one of the giant corps.) In the meantime, all sorts of companies seem to be slapping an "organic" label on all manner of things when they aren't. I can't dye my hair anymore - I developed a nasty allergy to PPD (Paraphenylenediamine).
