This is my personal blog, not a venue for saleable images. In fact, because it's here that I share things that are important to me with the members of the moblog community, photo quality's not my priority. Events, occasions, achievements, thoughts, trips and experiments - you'll find them all here. Contact me for the development version of my photo portfolio, for a selection of saleable images or visit my dance photography blog or my website for cuttings. And remember that all photos remain my copyright unless I've specifically said otherwise.

"Never to get lost is not to live, not to know how to get lost brings you to destruction, and somewhere in the terra incognita in between lies a life of discovery."
........ Rebecca Solnit

"Give, give, give -- what is the point of having experience, knowledge or talent if I don't give it away? Of having stories if I don't tell them to others? Of having wealth if I don't share it? I don't intend to be cremated with any of it! It is in giving that I connect with others, with the world and with the divine."

"The grand show is enternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapour is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls."
........ John Muir

"The bicycle is the most civilised conveyance known to man. Other forms of transport grow daily more nightmarish. Only the bicycle remains pure in heart."
........ Iris Murdoch

on the way to a picnic

silar31 says:

Absolutely wild! How did you do the bottom two, are they street lamps? I love the 4th and 5th from the top, such pretty squiggles!

Caine says:

Nice series, D. So many pics with a honey-lemon glow to them, and I love your yellow light squigglies. :)

Dhamaka says:

Thanks guys.
They're all motorway street lamps Silar. The last but one was taken looking straight up out of the car, the others looking forward
Geodyne - yes. We didn't leave my place till 11:57pm..
Sorry Nige - the battery ran out. In both camera and phonecam. But I had fresh cream with the chocolate cake...

Viv says:

I want to be able to play like that - the light pics I mean
- although long time since I had a midnight picnic and even longer since I had a midnight swim!

10th Aug 2006, 08:36

Dhamaka says:

It's taken me 3 trips in this car to try to get the lights right Viv - either the road is too bumpy or the suspension is wrong or he just goes too fast

It was *so cold* the water didn't even look attractive. The car thermometer said it was 12 but it felt much, much less

10th Aug 2006, 08:41

Viv says:

I haven't a camera that will play like that...:(

as for the swimming - hadn't realised it had been part of the plan - just what midnight picnic made me think of

10th Aug 2006, 08:52

Dhamaka says:

Viv - the top 4 were done with my phonecam..

10th Aug 2006, 08:57

Viv says:

yes - but I haven't got one of those either

most phone cams have more features than my camera!

10th Aug 2006, 09:01

Dhamaka says:

:(
no light/exposure features at all? I just turned the exposure up to maximum

10th Aug 2006, 09:03

Viv says:

nope none at all!

10th Aug 2006, 09:04

Dhamaka says:

:( again
I know this might be a contentious thing to say, but what happens when your family upgrades their phones? Izadora always gets first refusal of mine..

10th Aug 2006, 09:07

seaneeboy says:

[potential controversy] were you driving while taking these? [/potential controversy]

10th Aug 2006, 09:27

Caine says:

Viv, I got light squiggle shots with my little point and shoot - no adjustments. Just focused while at a stoplight, then snapped as we accelerated.

10th Aug 2006, 09:32

Viv says:

ooh will try if I get the chance

10th Aug 2006, 10:36

Dhamaka says:

Sean - of course not!
:-P

10th Aug 2006, 11:00

seaneeboy says:

Hard to tell what you mean by ";-p" - If you weren't driving, then good, but if you were I'd point out it's blogging an illegal activity and as such would ask you not to carry out such stuff on moblog.

Also, if you did I'd be really dissapointed that you both did it in the first place and made light of it.

I'd point out to others in this thread that taking pictures while in control of your car is against the law, and dowright dangerous for yourself and those in the area (even if it is a "Quiet road")

I just say it because I worry about you all. Even if you tell me not to, I still do.

We now return you to the usual flippancy :)

10th Aug 2006, 11:07

Dhamaka says:

Do me a favour Sean - once again.

Of course I wasn't driving. In fact, if you look at the photos, you will see they're taken from the passenger side of the car..

:-P is a reaction to the fact you could even think that I could be a) so irresponsible that I'd do something like that and b) stupid enough to blog breaking the law on a public forum...

but I appreciate your concern... daddy... :-)

10th Aug 2006, 11:11

seaneeboy says:

Thanks, just doing my job... if you want to delete the post I understand :)

10th Aug 2006, 11:13

Dhamaka says:

not at all...

10th Aug 2006, 11:13

mrs540air says:

love the sqiggles - hoew are the plans for Bulgaria going ?.

10th Aug 2006, 15:26

Dhamaka says:

Going next month instead. I need to have better contingency plans in place if my laptop's in the hold (ie not with me all the time) and I can't guarantee that I'll get to Bourgas early enough to get the train I need to Sofia

10th Aug 2006, 20:03

MaggieD says:

Sorry to hear your plans have been so messed up ..... hope it will all turn out OK in the end ...BTW love the pics ..... but midnight picnic and skinny dipping ..... leave that to you youngsters.......

10th Aug 2006, 21:32

Dhamaka says:

I think it is turning out better in the longer turm Maggie
