Campfire wood at the camp site. I was being stalked by a large black bear while collecting the firewood. It was dark though so I only saw its eyes reflected off my flashlight and its grumbling.

Aren't you supposed to sing at them or something?

What was the bear grumbling about? Bloody tourists, probably.

Thanks; I kinda new what the title to this photo would be as I was taking it!

Well I didn't even realize it was a bear at first. I heard rustling in the trees, then my headtorch picked out the eyes. I thought they were reflectors on a road sign for a while so stared at them for a bit (something you're apparently not supposed to do with bears). Anyway, after the 'reflectors' blinked and started wandering around/growling I knew what it was. I told the park ranger and he mentioned there was a large black bear that had broken into a few cars on the campsite in the last couple of days. Suffice to say, our campfire was a little lacking a little on the wood front!

whew. bears around people places is not good. glad to hear you camped there, though. wolves and bears--the total experience.

I figured we'd get to see more if we camped. Plus it avoided the crouds in Banff.

I was hoping to see a bear, but in the safety of a car rather than out in the open. Oh well...

I saw a bear on the way to Tofino, Vancouver Island last year too. It was young though, and I wasn't out in the open!
