Couldn't believe this at first, thought it had to be a man doing the most boring job on earth!

Am experiencing a huge wave of "Why?" A traffic light would surely have been easier to errect, be easier to maintain...

Well yes you are right of course. Can anyone answer that question for us. BTW, there were two of these guys! One on each side of the road.
