The Heddon Valley was lovely. But, it was there where I was stung by
a bee. For the first time. Ever. Serves me right for boasting earlier
in the day how I'd never been stung by a wasp or a bee. It wasn't
that big a deal. It felt like a thorn had gone into my thigh and it
was quite a surprise. After the initial alarm, though, the pain went
down quite quickly and I didn't go into anaphylactic shock. It was a
bit itchy a day later -- no where near as bad as those big swollen
midge bites you can get. I don't know what all the fuss is about. I'm
even less scared of bees now. Unless they're killer bees. Or dirty
bees carrying infection.

yowch, I once got stung 4 times by the same wasp....whilst driving...scarred me for life...the lack of anaphylactic shock is probably a good thing, bearing in mind your location at the time!
