I am a female, carbon based lifeform.
I am a New York City Native.
I am a Design Professional.
I take photographs.
I also sculpt, paint, create mosaics, and play with weapons.
And sometimes, I even dance about Architecture.
What I see, is what you get.
Dead easy, too. I made up a big bunch and kept them in the fridge in a container. Just pop a few out, put them in a toaster oven and done.
Which leaves me wondering if I can find actual figs in North Dakota. Another search to add to the list.
never stuffed a fig before. Do you scoop the inside out and mix it with the other stuff?
Not even that much trouble. Just take the filling anf kinda smoosh it on top. it looks very fancy on the plate but seriously, it's like... ten minutes to make a whole plate of the things and then you just keep them in a container in the fridge. Just pop em out and put them under a broiler when you want some. takes about 7 minutes.
Er... no. Like... where the heat only comes from the top.
A toaster oven will do it.(that's how I make mine). or, do they have them at the bottom of British cookers? like this (linky)
Oh you'll be pleased to know I'll be using some good stilton to make some cauliflower later...
Yummy. Not a good thing to see when there's no cheese in the house... :(
Also clears up some confusion. I thought broil was like braise. But no, practically the opposite. So what does grill mean in USA-speak?
In the US, a grill is usually the big cooker outside (powered either by charcoal or propane) on which we traditionally make steaks, hamburgers, hotdogs, etc. (Though I personally will cook almost anything on a grill - I think it tastes better)
You can also buy grill pans that go on top of the stove but which are ridged to simulate the "grill marks" that your food gets from the outside grill.
And amusingly enough? I pretty much hate grilled food. it always tastes burnt,
They're just so easy, too. And you can make them way in advance and just heat them up at the last minute. Totally the kind of thing that gets you mad points with people for having sexy looking food that only really took a couple minutes to make.
