ViX says:

I've been wanting this phone for ages but T-mobile lost my order somwhere along the way so I've just got a great deal out of them :)

I only ordered yesterday at 2pm too!

21st Sep 2006, 12:15

wowzer. now that is quick. i am a little jealous. my phone is nothing compared to the mighty k800

ViX says:

I know, I was so impressed!! I'm just waiting for it to charge :( As for other people who have them, apart from moblog folk, I don't know anyone in 'real life' who has one!!

I'm a bit disappointed tho because I could have swore it come with a 256mb memory card, but there doesn't appear to be one in the box :(

My old phone is a Motorola V3 and I couldn't wait to get rid of it, it's an awful phone, not to mention that after having it for 14 months it's started to do very strange things like vibrate for no reason, and the screen is flickering quite badly too. So this one turned up just in time :)

21st Sep 2006, 12:22

mine is a V3i! its not as bad as the original, but still fairly naff.

ViX says:

Bless, is your contract nearly up?

21st Sep 2006, 12:29

i'm not sure. i think i'm about 6 months in...

i'll have to check!

21st Sep 2006, 12:40

ViX says:

Aww, it sucks when you get a contract and you end up hating the phone after it too late to do anythng about it! I was like that with my V3

21st Sep 2006, 12:59

i've just checked, and its going to cost me around £80 to change to a k800, which is just hovering on the boundaries of being 'possible'.

might just spend the money on a real camera though.

21st Sep 2006, 13:11

ver sensible ES - thats probably what i'll end up doing...

DaMob says:

OK, I've now had 4 of the b*ggers go wrong on me, although the vodaguys keep telling me that it's rare.

Here are things to check for before your 14 day new-return period is over

- does it save *all* the photos you take
- how is the focussing in macro mode
- can you use macro mode at the extremes
- does it send MMS messages to more than 3 recipients at the same time without giving up
- does the battery have a reasonable life

oh yes, and one of my phones spontaneously deleted *everything* on the memory card, so keep an up to date backup, just in case..

hope this helps

540air says:

I'm on my second one, the first lasting only three days, but battery life aside, I'm plenty happy with it.

D - You've got through 4????

21st Sep 2006, 16:45

540air says:

In my opinion, the only bad thing about the design of the K800i is the silly lens cover. The K750i design was perfect, why change it?
The K750i was about as good as it gets for size and shape, and for the most part I think the K800i maintains that.

I mentioned this before in the review Sony Ericsson K800i camera phone review

21st Sep 2006, 17:47

Dhamaka says:

yes 540A - this is number 5, and it's losing photos already, after less than a day :(

It's interesting that you've got through 2 because they're making out that I'm unique

agree about the lens cover, I hate that this one keeps slipping open

22nd Sep 2006, 00:06

ViX says:

wow, I didn't think it would be such a discussed thing!

I couldn't wait for the next gen as my V3 was getting quite poorly!

D - I can't believe you've had 5, you poor thing!

So far, so good. I haven't had any problems yet *fingers crossed* but I am now tempted to take out insurance "just in case!".

Just a question tho.. after the screen saver has been on a min or so, and the backlight fades... the screen 'flashes' white - is it supposed too? It just seems a bit pointless =/

22nd Sep 2006, 10:36

540air says:

Yes, don't worry, I think it is meant to do that, both mine have. I agree it is a bit pointless though, the first few times it did it I thought it was about to ring and would stare at it like a fool waiting for something to happen!!

D - I'm quite happy to assist if they need proof that you're not unique with the faults :)
