The third one is a squirrel, I think, maybe a juvenile with the smaller tail, or he may have injured it getting away from a predator.

m_f and bmal, that's a pretty typical westerm wildfire, really. We're finally learning over here how to manage fires - old-growth forests are supposed to burn as part of their life cycle so total prevention is worse than allowing the burns and managing them wisely.
