Knowledge pursues me but I am faster.......

If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, then baffle them with bullshit.......

.......One day, we will look back on this, laugh nervously, and change the subject…

Only in our dreams are we free. The rest of the time we need wages.

Have just noticed that Casualty on BBC 1 have a Cambodian theme .... me and
my lemsip will be watching ....
First 5 pics taken in the schools that were part of the project - low res
cos these were taken with an old digi camera.... (have many many more taken
with SLR but haven't got round to scanning them )....
Last 2 pics are scanned from SLR pics ... me doing the touristy thing at
Angkor Wat....
Have loads more of these as well ..... landscapes etc
Hopefully will be going back soon as the education project that was set up
will be going national quite soon .... the thing that gave me the most
satisfaction when I was out there was the setting up of a small co-operative
that made educational resources (out of local materials) for local schools
... back in the 70's I was involved in a similar project in Nicaragua .....

The top ones....so orderly!

The bottom ones are amazing as well. I've not yet made it to Cambodia, but I do want to get there one day. Fabulous food, too.

You've had a fascinating past, Maggie!

sorry to hear that you're lemsipping, and thanks for the tantalising glimpses

I look forward to learning more - who knows, maybe even face to face

Thanks Geo .... not sure about the food though .... deep fried spiders are a delicacy .... if you are a guest in someone's house (which you are if you work in rural parts) they offer you 25 day old incubated chicks as a dish specially prepared for the guest of honour - I was a 'vegetarian of convenience' for the whole of my time there ..... strange in a mainly buddhist country ... but so many years of enforced starvation my the Pol Pot regime have made a diet of desperation turn into a diet of 'pleasure'.....
