Here's the result of my first ever pot-throwing attempt at my ceramics evening class last night. Well, OK, my *second* ever attempt. The first finished up as a sort of blobby mess.

I was quite pleased with it, though I doubt the Denby empire will be too worried just yet...

It's an interesting thing, pot throwing. The clay sort of has a life of its own, and the pot just appears in front of you. It's almost as if the clay dictates the shape of itself, and you just help it along!

Not bad at all,... my first attempt (and last) most of it was on my forehead.

and you successfully got it off the wheel head too!

Yeah, getting it off the wheel is reasonably tricky! I sliced under it with a wire and lifted it off (which bent it out of shape and put hand prints in it, of course). Then I just sort of squashed it back into shape once it was on the board.

Next week I'll try smoothing it off and baking it, then the week after perhaps a glaze.

S'good fun!
