i now have a FLICKR page too!
"why would a reviewer make the point of saying someone's *not* a genius? do you especially think i'm *not* a genius? you didn't even have to think about it, did you?"

"monkeys are superior to men in this: when a monkey looks into a mirror, he sees a monkey.”

"i am secretly afraid of animals.... i think it is because of the usness in their eyes, with the underlying not-usness which belies it, and is so tragic a reminder of the lost age when we human beings branched off and left them: left them to eternal inarticulateness and slavery. why? their eyes seem to ask us."

"we've all heard that a million monkeys banging on a million typewriters will eventually reproduce the entire works of shakespeare. thanks to the internet, we now know this is not true..."

african monkey proverb: "the day the monkey is destined to die, all the trees get slippery."

"i'll buy a bunch of monkeys, dress them up, and make them re-enact the civil war"

i told a funny joke once...
i thought you might. he's an aye-aye whatever the hell that is.
true ...the first thing i thought was 'that critter doesnt look well', in fact I thought he was stuffed.....
Pic 5 & the stuffed ape reminded me I watched King Kong last night...I liked it!
No expectations = zero disspointment. Everyone told me it was crap before I watched it. I liked the lighting - very shiny & VERY hollywood! Guess after Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson has a whole lot to live up to. You see the original?
i have seen it, yeah.
the problems i had with jackson's version lay mainly with the casting - everyone in that film bugged me. jack black is not a serious actor, and he came across like he was taking the piss most of the time.
also, with any film where the ending is already known by 97%* of the people watching, there has to be extra special attention paid to making the viewers' emotional attachment to the story strong, and i don't think that it was. too much time and money was spent on developing lovely graphics, and species of animals barely glimpsed, that the script seemed like it had a development budget of 50p and half a pound of grapes.
i admit i went in with high expectations, but i have seen it again since, hoping it might get better with repeated viewings, but it was even worse, because i didn't have the 'bloody hell, look at that!' factor to keep me entertained.
anyway, i think its fair to say i didn't like it : )
* made up statistic
i went in with people saying it was poor, i love going to films where every one else says its poor as it makes me try and find the good things in the film.
i liked it coz it was bad. the original film was bad but good at the same time, but thats due to its age.
i agree with the fact jack black should not have been casted as he is definitly not a serious actor!
