Presenting lighting, theatre and weather: formerly from the hills of Yorkshire, with bits and pieces of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and trips to Edinburgh; when the music stops, where will neel end up?

Here's a little bit of history for you: I got into theatre largely because I like secrets. I love being Behind The Scenes, knowing stuff that the audience doesn't and - perhaps more importantly - getting to explore those Hidden Worlds. So, part of the agreed to do the Library Dances project was that I'm really fond of Leeds Central Library, and I'd get to wander into non-public areas...

1: The Library has two staff access staircases that are separate from the two large public stairwells that run up the centre of the building. This one has really nice tiles, while the other one is a more boring recently-concreted job. But they both go from the basement all the way up to the fourth floor.

2: The Business Library on the third floor has a no-access balcony area that's used for all sorts of storage and stuff. It's cool.

3: This is the big mirrored bit at one end of the Business Library, up close and personal.

4: Back issues of newspapers, hidden away in secret stacks.

5: Bad Wolf graffiti in the staff loos.

6: It's a super-sekrit storeroom full of old books and crap! Excitement!

So, not that amazing. But fun, in it's way. Lot's of stairs, though.

libraries kick hard ass...

Leeds Central Library has the most miserable librarians in the world. Except for the women.

i find that place intimadating - all that information in one place is too much for my little brain to cope with

Try slogging up and down five enormous flights of stairs every day.

FilbertFox says:

have enough of that where i work, and the stairs are littered with slow moving students. And worse the lifts are full of students too lazy to walk down one flight of stairs

But the guy on the ground floor is the most miserable.
