These are random moments in the life of an indecent designer and the city she loves.

I am a female, carbon based lifeform.
I am a New York City Native.
I am a Design Professional.
I take photographs.
I also sculpt, paint, create mosaics, and play with weapons.

And sometimes, I even dance about Architecture.

What I see, is what you get.

The disk that contained all my design work for the past five years is gone. The disk was a backup to my hard drives, which have likewise had this data removed from them.

I still have about half the projects I've done in the past five years available to me digitally, but the other half are no longer available except in their original format, which is to say, the project boards.

In order for me to get my portfolio together I have to go through all the boards I have and remove those which need things scanned.

This is the pile of things that need SCANNING, not the total pile. I went through *ALL* the boards the other night with the assistance of the monster, and this was the stuff that was pulled for recreation. There's about 35 boards here. Some of the things will probably have to be large format scanned (at $11 a board.) but I am probably going to try to photograph those first with my digital and hope I can get a decent image. The others I will rip apart (which I hate to do because these things take forever to put together) and scan as pieces so I can get all the images and information together before I begin the process of gathering it all into some kind of slick and nifty format.

Just thinking about this makes me tired.

Just think about how much better you can make it, without the sleep dep and time constraints you had when you put every one of those projects together...

Yeah except that now that Ive upgraded my OS, my scanner isn;'t working. Going to have to try some ridiculous fixes to see if I can get it to work...

(SO FRUSTRATED).

Go to bed. It will look better in the morning with some sleep!

I'm right in the middle of my day, though. I know it's 4:15am, but I work nights.

Argh.

Computers. They make our lives so much easier...

12th Oct 2006, 09:22

ouch.

you have my sympathies, but maybe this is an opportunity to update and/or re-design your portfolio, and make it even more snazzy!

hope you get it all sorted ;-(

bronxelf says:

I do too but I doubt it will be any time soon unless someone with *far* more patience and a knack for computers wants to have a crack at it.

it does look like a rather daunting task. I have a real love ,hate relationship with my computer, 'modern technology' doesnt live up to my expectation.

Oh I'd be cooking along finr, if the scanner would work. That, and I am faced with an impossible deadline to meet in the next couple of weeks ASIDE from this.

So sorry about all this - difficult to come to terms with - good luck with the scanning!

impossible deadlines are your speciality ...

I would love to be using that air conditioner. Unfortunately co op rules dictate that *they* have to install them, at a cost of $75 per unit. It had planned to replace them both, as Rich has an extra also and the ones here are over ten years old. But it requires the money to do it and since it's the offseason there's no urgency.

Also, even if I had the cash, I'm waiting on a lot of projects right now for Mike to finish moving out.
