I hope she shows some improvement soon....poor little thing. Poor all of you!

Euphro says:

Very up and down today. Whenever she is brighter, like now, we keep our fingers crossed. It's been a surreal five days and we are both shattered. I hope the new antibiotic (Cephalexin) does the trick. The bugs are obviously immune to Erythromycin.

seaneeboy says:

Dearie me - what is actually wrong? Some kind of nasty infection?

Thoughts and prayers go to her for strength.

It's a middle ear infection (acute Otitis media), but it is a bit more stubborn than we expected.

Hope this is takes a short time to work. In Canada, drug of choice is amoxicillin, still effective. I know this is a nightmare. Know this one very well. Thinking of you all.

we are with you on this one - it will get better - thoughts :-(

17th Oct 2006, 20:39

Euphro says:

Swamprose, although it is the obvious one, Amoxicillin is out because of a previous allergic reaction. The night is not looking promising at the moment, but we hope we will be proved wrong. Thanks for all your kind thoughts :)

swamprose says:

They say 48 hours for antibiotics to take effect. Not that it makes life any easier, or her pain any less. Sorry to be so on top of this, but my son Bear and I spent a lot of time on his ears. And he owes me a few years sleep.

hildegard says:

(Insert cheerleading routine) Go Cephalexin! Yay!
and so forth. ahem.

18th Oct 2006, 00:36

Euphro says:

Happily, and to our great relief, the new antibiotic is working. We saw an improvement after the second dose (but, of course, we will complete it all, not wanting to create any more superbugs). Thanks again for all the kind wishes and words of support. It has really made a difference :)
