There's wallaby poo, lichens and big holes in the ground that either belong
to cicadas or the huge funnel web spider that I disturbed when trying to dig
out some asparagus fern. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The hole in the
back fence is the wallaby's' tradesman's entrance'. I wondered how they were
getting in.

The top photo is my current watering system for the garden... washing machine recycled water... haven't turned on the outside watering system in 4 years due to the water resrictions from our 9 year drought!

Are you sure you guys are in drought in the Blue Mountains?

funnel spider? as in the one that can kill you?

As a tourist, wallabies seemed like a less threatening version of a kangaroo, but my heart belongs to echidnas and most of all, to wombats.

Kudos on the use of grey water.

When we have no rain here, it is illegal to use water on your car, your garden, any general hose use. How long have you had water restrictions?

The funnel web spider was huge- about 6cm across and yes its the one that can kill you. I backed off in a very big hurry! There was only the handle of the shovel between it and me. HAd a few nightmares about it last night...

The water resrtictions have been in place for about 3-4 years and I think we're going to go to level 4 resrictions soon. The main dam is down to about 40% water- lowest level ever. I think we can water twice a week in the middle of the night and that's about it. No car washing except with a bucket of water, using the hose to clean paths- not at all etc. LEvel 4 means no hose use at all. Mostly I use the grey water to keep the ground and gardens closest to the house wet, so that in event of a bushfire I have a bit of a moist buffer.
