This is my personal blog, not a venue for saleable images. In fact, because it's here that I share things that are important to me with the members of the moblog community, photo quality's not my priority. Events, occasions, achievements, thoughts, trips and experiments - you'll find them all here. Contact me for the development version of my photo portfolio, for a selection of saleable images or visit my dance photography blog or my website for cuttings. And remember that all photos remain my copyright unless I've specifically said otherwise.

"The grand show is enternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapour is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls."

WTM final day

Sprocket says:

Did you swipe all those pens????

mtn_hermit says:

Given the few trade shows I've attended, I think it's probably more likely to be "You were only given that many pens?".

9th Nov 2006, 18:25

Dhamaka says:

I didn't swipe anything.

I asked nicely

Mtn_hermit - that's closer, but as I focus on just a few places (notwithstanding the photos over the last few days) I don't tend to get as many freebies. It's quite amusing watching the freebie hunters operate - they whiz through the entire exhibition on Day one and then roll up at conferences, press talks and other events just as the talking finishes. Alarmingly this time I saw people actually going through goodie bags to see what was in them this time. I've never seen that before and hope I don't again

Yeesh. Rooting through the goodie bags... That's just rude. What kind of weird sense of entitlement makes someone think that's good behaviour?

I have no idea but am ashamed to be associated with them

Wonderful shots, D. It's really neat to see how different all the displays are. I covet all those nifty pens. :D

Thanks Caine. I'm sure there was more great stuff that I didn't have the time to walk past

Is this where you go to find out what country you are next travelling to? Looks like there was lots of info.

10th Nov 2006, 12:20

Dhamaka says:

Kind of, it's where you go to get new ideas and make the contacts in the tourist industry who can help you, once you get the commission(s).

There is far too much info to gather in just 4 days. I went back to Argentina to renew my contacts there, to Central America because they're so related, to Bulgaria because I have a commission already and am looking for other ideas to work on while I'm out there (especially one that will bring me close enough to Kristiyan so that we can meet). Then it was Hungary because I've been trying to get something together in Budapest for some time.

Once that was done, I was off to Jordan because they've just rebranded and Canada because I have a commission and need the ideas for another.

Then I did Holland, Belgium and Southern Spain because they're really close and I know them quite well.

When I'd done all that I used the remaining time to investigate places where friends are or have mentioned because it'd be really cool to combine work with meeting them.

In general it was very productive, and although I wasn't able to find anyone to talk about sports and wine with in Bulgaria or Hungary, I think I have enough information to make a start..
