I don't like the angle of this shot(I think I look _way_ heavier than I am-
oh well.) , but I do so love the dress. I only have one lousy camphone shot
of the dress from Friday night(and I wore my hair up, as usual), but I took
this one with the good camera when I got the dress back in June.I buy one new dress every year for this event. I've already found next year's. :)What I don't understand though is why it's so easy to buy a periwinkle dress but so impossible to find periwinkle *shoes*.Goodness.

because they assume you'll buy silver shoes... much easier to match than shades of blue, usually.

And more profitable.

They're idiots. I went with dark blue. It matched my coat.

You look lovely and having a dress already picked out for next year is quite impressive. It is typically about 10 minutes after I start getting ready for something I am supposed to look nice for that I realize I don't have anything to wear.

19th Dec 2006, 19:01

bronxelf says:

That's not a problem I usually have, at least not when it comes to formalwear. I have that problem with other things, but I always am closet-deep in formalwear.

One dress a year, is all it takes.

19th Dec 2006, 19:03

bronxelf says:

Thanks. It's just the angle of the shot. It's catching my hips at the widest possible angle but isn't making my waist as narrow as it really is. It happens. Oh well.

Yeah, I am by no means a big shopper or a big clothes person. But one dress a year. For sure, no exceptions. And I never have to worry about having something *really* fancy to wear.

19th Dec 2006, 23:36

What are you worrying about you look Fantastic :-)

Great You , great Dess, but the dress wouldnt be anything without you in it. :-)

The shoes - if you can face flat jewelled slippers, they come in :every: shade. You need to find a neighbourhood with lots of salwar kameez shops, halal butchers, etc. You should be able to find a big range of them in coloured fabric or dyed leather & they're not expensive. Also, more modern 'Bollywood' style clothing stores might be able to fit you out with coloured heels - I saw some marvelous peacock blue silk heels in one of our more upscale local shoeshops last year...

20th Dec 2006, 17:08

bronxelf says:

Flat shoes are not an option. They won't ever be. Even with heels on this dress was too long. There's no way I can deal with a formal gown without very high heels. I'm just too short.

Fortunately, next year it looks like red or green and either way I can find heels.

Thanks for the thought, if I were four inches taller it might work.
