Yesterday, a lovely present arrived from Paintist. I asked her if I could open it before Christmas in case something might go bad...I am sick with a cold, up at some ungodly hour, and sitting in bed eating my full English breakfast.

Jaffa cakes are just great. Also good for the spirit.
thank you Paintist.

Dhamaka says:

I wonder when mine will arrive, and if they'll be squashed flat or still edible...

and are they as good as you had expected?

20th Dec 2006, 10:18

omg omg omg omg omg. jaffa overload!

and those creme egg dairy milks are tastier than two tasty things in a bag.

20th Dec 2006, 10:19

swamprose says:

This is heavenly. Sitting up in bed, eating jaffa cakes at 5:22 am, talking to you guys. And no one else is up to share them with!

yes, D, they are just as good as I imagined. Thank goodness there are more on the way.

20th Dec 2006, 10:26

paintist says:

Hmmmm... can you taste the full glory that is Jaffa if you have a cold?
glad they arrived not too mashed up...get well.. :-)

20th Dec 2006, 10:26

swamprose says:

P, the full glory of a Jaffa Cake is now apparent, right here, cold or not. And nothing got mashed at all. Jaffa cake crumbs in my bed. umph. what a way to go. I feel so much better.

20th Dec 2006, 10:28

FilbertFox says:

jaffa cakes are proof positive there is a God.

20th Dec 2006, 10:29

swamprose says:

and getting them when you have a cold, are up too early, and don't have to share them--also proof of divine intervention.

20th Dec 2006, 10:30

swamprose says:

I am feeling so much better. Jaffa Cakes are gone. I am off to get in a few quiet hours in the studio. nothing like a full english breakfast to start the day.

20th Dec 2006, 10:59

Rhys says:

Glad you feel better. They used to do cherry and lime ones (seperate, together would be disgusting), they were nice too, but I'm not sure if they were limited edition or not.

20th Dec 2006, 11:30

easy, rhys.

there's not a little animosity towards the non-orange jaffa cakes on moblog. watch your step :)

20th Dec 2006, 11:31

Rhys says:

eeek, I'll take a few steps backwards :)

I must add however, orange ones are the BEST!

narrow escape :D

20th Dec 2006, 11:38

paintist says:

escaped for now...but I am watching you Rhys...cherry!!! bleurgh....

20th Dec 2006, 11:41

nige says:

post is good on your end, at least... :)

20th Dec 2006, 11:44

swamprose says:

that's what I'm saying...all good until it hits jaffacakeland--then hey, matrix takes over.

20th Dec 2006, 11:46

Dhamaka says:

matrix? the matrix is organised compared to what we've got!

20th Dec 2006, 11:47

540air says:

You got Jaffa cakes? FANTASTIC!!!! :D

*steps into potential trouble, prepared to run and hide... I thought the lime ones were alright but the black currant ones were nothing special. Orange still rules supreme! Hope you're feeling better soon :)

20th Dec 2006, 19:12

Dhamaka says:

hehe - just found you on Random!

20th Dec 2006, 20:44

Caine says:

Lovely! I hope the package I sent you actually makes it to you one of these days.

20th Dec 2006, 22:18

swamprose says:

Hi Caine. I think everything is moving really slow because of the season. I'll be sure to let you know when something shows up.

sp'baby--I have no basis for lime or any other comparison. However, unlike the purists, I am always open to new concepts of jaffa. *runs*

dh, my middle name is random.

20th Dec 2006, 22:43

Jaffa Cakes! *drools over keyboard*. One of the many things I miss from home. I've only seen them over here once, and they were a year past their sell buy date so they wouldn't sell it to me. I never even knew they'd made a diary milk with creme egg in. I truly have been away from the motherland for too long.

Hope the cold clears up!

21st Dec 2006, 00:17

swamprose says:

oh RAB. I ate them all. In about ten minutes. The cold was greatly assisted by the vitamin C in the orange filling. I cannot believe there are NO jaffa cakes here. We will find a way.

21st Dec 2006, 00:52

Dhamaka says:

maybe we could start a Jaffa Import Business....

21st Dec 2006, 13:32

swamprose says:

I have been thinking that more than t shirts, we need a mblguk food store. Jaffa cakes and toastabags from the UK, and maple syrup beans and froot loop cereal fromt this end...not to mention all the international Kit Kats.

funny how food seems to be important.

21st Dec 2006, 13:40

holy crap. send me all the froot loops you can lay your mitts on. i love 'em.

21st Dec 2006, 13:41

Anything other than the original Jaffa cakes is wrong, wrong wrong wrong!

Don't get me started again. Let Lime, Blackcurrant and any other non jaffa, jaffa cakes never be mentioned again..

Everyone clear on that?

21st Dec 2006, 13:41

because they kick ass, thats why.

21st Dec 2006, 13:42

swamprose says:

all I've ever had is the one true orange ones. but in the interests of scientific research I intend to try the others...*runs fast*

21st Dec 2006, 13:49

factotum says:

and how is your cold, Srose?

21st Dec 2006, 18:01

Spiderbaby says:

*hides from SFG! Mmmmm...... lime.....

21st Dec 2006, 19:26

A moblog food store sounds great! You can get Brit food online though. I've not got anything from HERE yet, but I'm planning to if I get desperate. 36 Jaffa cakes set you back a mere US$5 +p&p.; Plus they have a section devoted to Marks & Sparks stuff.

21st Dec 2006, 20:22

swamprose says:

NOW you tell me. thanks for the link.

22nd Dec 2006, 07:39

FilbertFox says:

Swamprose - please don't bother with the research. Take it from one who knows science aint worth the bother. You will need to consult health and safety advisor's, who will tell you that all jaffas apart from the original orange ones are very very bad for you (technical term there i do apologise). orange ones on the other hand are officially a superfood and should be consumed in large quantities.

22nd Dec 2006, 08:10

swamprose says:

FF, science is so maleable.
terms like 'very bad for you' are something I intend to investigate.
there are so few vices left.

22nd Dec 2006, 08:44

FilbertFox says:

don't say i didn't warn you!

22nd Dec 2006, 08:45

swamprose says:

FF, warning taken. now, what small victoriouis vices are you working on? gin does not count.

22nd Dec 2006, 08:47

FilbertFox says:

me? I have no vices. i am as pure as the driven snow. Ask the Mr he'll tell you!

22nd Dec 2006, 09:01

Spiderbaby says:

I won't ask what's driven that particular snow! ;D
