Knowledge pursues me but I am faster.......

If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, then baffle them with bullshit.......

.......One day, we will look back on this, laugh nervously, and change the subject…

Only in our dreams are we free. The rest of the time we need wages.

I am sorry to inform you that Alex died peacefully early this morning.
For all of you that have been following his blog, you will know what a lovely, bright and intelligent lad he was.
His family would like you to know that "he was very peaceful at the end and was surrounded by people who love him.
Thank you all so much for all of your support for Alex. Knowing that you were all thinking of him was a real comfort to him......"

edit: From Jenny (Alex's mum) ... "Thank you so much everyone. Alex so much enjoyed blogging and reading other people's blogs. We all realised that there are a lot of really lovely, kind and supportive people out there- strangers who had become Alex's friends. We will try and put a proper final entry on Alex's blog when we are able. "

Our thoughts are with his family ....
love and peace here for Alex's blog ...

I was thinking about Alex today. How he blogged himself looking just terrible. I remember the steroid face, in particular. And how detailed the scientific description of what was going on and why. the sense of humour. And how much he liked his medical team.

He showed us some really good things.

Thanks to everyone for all the messages of sympathy and support.

Spoke to Jenny (Alex's mum) earlier ... the funeral is in London at Honor Oak Crem at 11.30 on Mon 15th Jan ....all welcome .... normal dress (Alex said bright!) ... humanist service .... hippy music (?) ..... pub afterwards .... no mawkishness ..... blog on and keep joking ..... that's what he loved about the site ....

Alex was always the types of person who would make you feel good about yourself just by talking to him, though we were not the closet of friends he will still be greatly missed. My prayers go out to the Saville family and friends for you to be comforted.
So sorry for the loss, God bless.

Maggie, thanks for posting this. It's very sad news. I will miss Alex's posts and the equanimity and good humour with which he faced what was obviously a very serious illness. His blog helped promote awareness about the condition (of which I was only dimly previously aware) and educate us in the best tradition of Moblog. I feel lucky to have known him, even briefly, and I mourn his passing. Please pass-on the condolences of the Euphros to his family.
