superb!
I went to a GSA degree show a few years ago and saw someone had done a project (I think for environmental art) where she'd done various 'creative' forms of addressing. I think my favourite was the envelope with a crossword on the front, the solution to which was the address. It was delivered - with a triumphant little note saying 'solved by Springburn delivery office'.
She also tried posting a tenner with an address tag attatched, and got it back the next day with a stern warning from the delivery office manager, warning not to send cash in the post.
On a less bright note, we paid for a friend's (ahem, belated) Christmas present to be sent special delivery on Friday 29th December. We even paid extra for guaranteed Saturday delivery (for the 30th December). It arrived today.
I'm livid. We spent £7+ on sending a small parcel a short distance and it took them a week.
Sorry...ranty. That book looks great.
That's really and truly quite rubbish.
I suppose the consolation is that you'll get your money back...
Only if I play merry hell. And possibly not even then. Like you say: really quite rubbish.
Thanks for cheering me up with some mailing ephemera.
OJ: I don't think it's all that tricky - you paid for a guaranteed service, and they failed to, er, deliver.
here's the form [pdf].
Erm.. but I don't hate the Royal Mail.
They tried to deliver a Special Delivery package before noon, which is what they said they'd do, but I was asleep, and the doorbell didn't wake me up, so they took it away again.
What's the problem with that?
I've got 2 RM stories...one of a Christmas Card posted to me (edit sorry) the November before last from Lanzarote which arrived in August and the other of some stuff I sent to Canada. It was only Jaffa cakes but to guarantee that it got there before Christmas they wanted about 25 times the cost of what went into the package. I paid for it to go by surface mail and resigned myself to the idea it wouldn't arrive till sometime in mid January and it arrived on Christmas eve!
