Looks like you two had a great experience. Was it as good as it looks?

It was quite a culture shock and being seen as a cash cow constantly became very annoying. But I would recommend it to anyone and I will be going back. It is such a beautiful place.

One thing that struck me about India, was that everyone dropped litter! It didn't really matter where they were or what it was. When we were on Elephanta island we were all shocked by the ammount of litter everywhere, It really spoilt the place.

That must be quite odd, as we've always had it drummed into us that litter should be picked up. They'd probably come here and think we were all "clean freaks"!! Then again, maybe not :)

I sent my son. the India when he was 11. It changed all of us. I learned to cook great Indian food, we never sit in a traffic jam here without thinking it might be a cow up ahead, that if you look over the edge of the wall behind the Taj Mahal down at the river there are people living on the banks of the river in houses made of cardboard, that sidewalks can be places to live or a business, and generally that there is a whole lot more than we ever imagined. Your photos and Helen's , your observations are really wonderful. You won't sit in a traffic jam the same way anymore. : )
