a nice random image to get you started:

i now have a FLICKR page too!

"why would a reviewer make the point of saying someone's *not* a genius? do you especially think i'm *not* a genius? you didn't even have to think about it, did you?"

"monkeys are superior to men in this: when a monkey looks into a mirror, he sees a monkey.”

"i am secretly afraid of animals.... i think it is because of the usness in their eyes, with the underlying not-usness which belies it, and is so tragic a reminder of the lost age when we human beings branched off and left them: left them to eternal inarticulateness and slavery. why? their eyes seem to ask us."

"we've all heard that a million monkeys banging on a million typewriters will eventually reproduce the entire works of shakespeare. thanks to the internet, we now know this is not true..."

african monkey proverb: "the day the monkey is destined to die, all the trees get slippery."

"i'll buy a bunch of monkeys, dress them up, and make them re-enact the civil war"

pure brilliance! what camera / settings?

20th Jan 2007, 13:47

cheers guys.

jetblack - now you're asking. it was taken using my friends canon 10D (i think). as for the settings, i don't usually pay much attention to them, but for most of my shots, i use aperture priority and use the widest possible f-stop that the lens will allow. i like the shallow focus you see.

plus some judicious cropping and black-and-white-ification

i've always had problems trying to take pics of moving objects and its getting on my tits.
like, for example, taking shots of a band without the flash (when it is sufficiently lit) always blurs too much. when i increase the shutter speed it just goes dark!

Excellent, M-F!

20th Jan 2007, 14:14

god, tell me about it. i've never been able to take a really satisfying gig photo. its worth bearing in mind, though, that our eyes are far more sensitive than most digital cameras, and what looks bright and well lit to us can actually be very dark.

EDIT: oh, and cheers factotum!
