Old style fruit shop

Spotted this old style green grocer's in Edgeley, a terrace street district of Stockport, on the way to the match (Sale Sharks v. Ospreys - my first ever Rugby Union game). Oh how quaint.

No point signing the petitions about how Tesco et al take all the money out of local economies if we don't then shop with the people who keep the money in the local economy... :)

The demise of the local shops takes a lot away from society. When you had to go to 3 4 or 5 shops for your weekly shop you knew more people and things were more sociable. Now you go to the supermarket and it is a free for all where people will kill for the last loaf..

My granddad used to have a butchers in Chorlton which he ran with his brother, and my grandma used to run the drapers next door. I just remember this from when I was a kid, halcyon days..
