It used to be such a treat to go for a picnic on the common.

Sprocket says:

on the common with teddy bear and an ice-cream as a nipper, the skating rink (failing to pull girls) as a an early teen, late night at the Odeon (as a late teen) and il Caretto for romantic dinners when all growed-up.

Aw... Streatham memories. Being dragged round Pratts by my gran, paddling in the huge pool on the common, falling over at many a birthday party at the ice rink...

Twiglet says:

Blimeh! To hear you lot talk anyone would think Pratts was Harrods instead of a poor man's Arding and Hobbs! The ice rink and bus garage are still there tho', as is the common, paddling pool and the Rookery.

For rikaitch, one of Croydon's most famous sons: we were en route to the Mayday....

rikaitch says:

I'd like to to not be remembered as one of Croydon's famous sons. It's hardly a claim to fame.

Twiglet says:

Nah, but we regularly eat in the pub where scenes from Citizen Smith were filmed. In the series it was called The Vigilante...
