We stopped off just over the Belorussian boarder at a town called Brest, which sounds promising but was
anything but. We had entered a primitive IT zone and the place had a grey depressing feel to it. After a night in
hotel (air raid shelter) we visited the old Fort of Brest which is now a monument to the hundreds of thousands
killed on the 2WW eastern front. The place was humbling and, shroud in snow, made us all very reflective.
