Dog thanks God

This fella (William French? or something like that) dived into Highgate Ponds to save a dog and drowned for his trouble, back in Victorian times. Even back then that's the behaviour of a mug. Still, the dog-loving public appreciated it and clubbed together to get him this stand-out grave in St Pancras & Islington Cemetery in East Finchley.
