factotum says:

The Montreal forecast is also for snow overnight, 15 - 20 centimeters, so about 8 inches. Cold too-- minus10 this morning (14 F) and falling :(

540air says:

That's horrible, shouldn't spring be sprung about now?

"View my golf forecast.... Not bloody likely in this weather!!"

16th Mar 2007, 11:38

bronxelf says:

Not here. Winter both begins and ends late here. We can get snow through mid-April, really.

16th Mar 2007, 11:40

jay(jay-at-knightly-dot-com) says:

For the record, we've gotten a major snowstorm between March 6th and St.Patrick's day every year for the last twelve. Di was just saying this was the first year we hadn't, as I was waking her up to tell her school was closed.

16th Mar 2007, 12:13

bronxelf says:

Well you guys are going to get slammed much harder than we are. They expect no more than 8 by my house. You guys are gonna get hammered.

Euphro says:

Weirdly, snow is on the way for the UK, too, early next week. I hope that the bad weather there does not affect you too severely.

16th Mar 2007, 12:19

bronxelf says:

I was supposed to go out to Brooklyn tonight to take photos at Chris' show. But if it's real bad I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to stay in and make cheesecake for tomorrow.

16th Mar 2007, 12:19

mat says:

snow here on monday too. even weirder, 'cos it's 60F and sunny here right now, and has been all week.

btw, I heard there was some interesting Art to see at the moment in the Brooklyn museum. Devorah Sperber?

16th Mar 2007, 12:34

Xochizlan says:

The forecast now is for about an inch of snow and ice. I told you there was no way we'd get eight inches of snow.

lifeofreilly says:

Note to self: Bring Cold Weather Gear when we visit during the first week of April...

16th Mar 2007, 15:08

silar31 says:

The forecast here has gone from 6 to 8 inches to 7 to 11. Looks like we are getting your snow, Monster.

16th Mar 2007, 15:39

Caine says:

We got snowed on again two days ago, more is predicted for tomorrow. I hate fucking snow too.

16th Mar 2007, 18:59

bronxelf says:

We're getting ice pellets now.

Silar- you're gonna get the worst of it. There's only about 1.5 on the ground by my house. Two days ago we were at 70. The ground thawed. No way it could support the snow. It's falling but the ground was too warm for it to stick (even by my house, where the ground is much colder than in Manhattan.)

But it's sticking now, as the temperature drops and it's ICE.

Shit. I don't know if Im going to Brooklyn in this....

Entropy says:

Elf, I'm only ~30 miles north of you. We have 8 inches already. This blows!

Edited to add:
Detailed Local Forecast
* Tonight: Windy. Heavy snow this evening will mix with sleet and freezing rain at times late. Low 22F. Winds NNE at 25 to 35 mph. ***10 to 15 inches of additional snow expected.***

Aggghhhh!

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM EDT SATURDAY.

MODERATE TO OCCASIONALLY HEAVY SNOW AND SLEET WILL LIKELY CHANGE TO SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN THIS EVENING...THEN GRADUALLY TAPER OFF AFTER MIDNIGHT. TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW AND SLEET WILL RANGE FROM 2 TO 5 INCHES...WITH SOME TOTALS OF 6 TO 10 INCHES IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF WESTERN ESSEX COUNTY...BEFORE THE ACCUMULATING SNOW ENDS LATER TONIGHT. UP TO A HALF INCH OF ICE ACCRETION FROM FREEZING RAIN IS ALSO POSSIBLE...MAKING DRIVING AND WALKING CONDITIONS QUITE HAZARDOUS.

We may get slightly more. I'm pretty far north, as NYC goes. We're still getting ice pellets now.

bronxelf says:

I love The Rockstar, but he's being paid to trek his happy ass out to Brooklyn tonight.

Im staying home and making cheesecake. Fuck it.

16th Mar 2007, 21:25

Entropy says:

Good choice.

And while the Rockstar *is* delicious, cheesecake is better! :)

16th Mar 2007, 21:29

bronxelf says:

The cheesecake isn't for me, but it will be great fun making it.

16th Mar 2007, 21:31

bronxelf says:

I just sent Chris a note, in the form of Haiku:

Ice falls from the sky
Sidewalks are frozen over
No Brooklyn for me.

Although I love you
I am not leaving the house
Without being paid.
