Pretty damn spectacular up there.
It was late afternoon and the sun was low, kind of illuminating the underside of some of the clouds.
I exposed for the sky (not an illegal act in that part of the country) and adjusted the light levels on the ground section which was pretty dark in consequence.

i vividly remember walking the stretch of the pennine way which crosses the A66 more than the others, coming over that moor towards the road in late september afternoon, the stretch was 17 fairly arduous miles and I arrived at the youth hostel in the middle of nowhere to find it was shut, with a sign on the door saying the nearest phonebox was 3 miles away... deep joy. A local farmer took pity and gave me a loaf of bread and three tins of beans. It was a windy night! Love driving over that road and always plan our holiday route around it - first to the sis-in-law in Leeds then up to my brother in keswick.

Very adventurous!
I did a little bit of the ridgeway path, down near Marlborough, Reading way when I was about 14, on a bike.
Similar experience with YHA.

yes, did the Pennine Way, Lyke Wake Walk, Coast to Coast, Offa's Dyke, some of the Cornish Coast and most of the Pembrokeshire Coast path, all but the latter done before I had kids of course!
