It's bloody heavy. And I still have to carry it all the way home.

26th Mar 2007, 15:51

Puddlepuff says:

You should have kept the money then, way lighter. :)

26th Mar 2007, 16:56

kostika says:

Well hopefully this shall make me more money. At least that's the plan.

26th Mar 2007, 16:59

Puddlepuff says:

Gonna rent it out to kiddies?

26th Mar 2007, 18:20

kostika says:

No. This makes another gaming console that I can now get paid to write reviews for.

26th Mar 2007, 22:09

kostika says:

Review games, not consoles.

Puddlepuff says:

I miss my old NES or SNES and Super Mario,... Nothing has ever beaten the years of fun we had with that.

kostika says:

I remember when a Vic20 was new and exciting.

Time to move forward though.

26th Mar 2007, 22:45

Puddlepuff says:

Ofcourse time to move forward. I have had all kinda game consoles. But I just can't find the game that gives me the same joy as that did.

Thinking about getting a DS and mario :)

26th Mar 2007, 22:56

kostika says:

You need a DS. Everyone needs a DS. Not only cause it kicks mucho ass, but cause it will change how you game with a handheld

26th Mar 2007, 23:02

Rich says:

DS is the besssssst thing ever. Xbox 360 is rather good too, get Crackdown. Even if you don't usually like GTA games, you'll like this. Unless you don't like leaping buildings with a single bound, or shooting guys with missiles.

(I've got, like, most of the consoles. I could have a job writing stuff.)

Is the Xbox really that good? No.1 son and I keep talking about getting one to replace the PS2.

27th Mar 2007, 11:17

kostika says:

Too slow on the recommend. I bought Crackdown already. My friend/coworker Simon wouldn't have let me out of Game without it.

If you're seriously interested, let me know. I can put you into contact with a gaming site that pays and a few that don't.

27th Mar 2007, 11:18

kostika says:

The 360 is a good piece of kit. I can't recommend it in comparison to the PS3 as they both have benefits and drawbacks.

27th Mar 2007, 11:21

Rich says:

xbox has a very good online service, game downloads etc. friends lists, messaging, it's a really good package. if your son likes his drivin' and shootin' I reckon he'd be in hog heaven, and certainly price-wise against the PS3 it wins hands down. From the sounds of it the PS3 needs a good few system updates and a hefty price drop before it's worth thinking about. And some games you'd want to play.

Kos: May well do that soon, hopefully before too long I'll have plenty of time on my hands.

27th Mar 2007, 11:55

kostika says:

I disagree heavily on the price. The 360 costs nearly a much as the PS3. After you've bought the necessary accessories you have to have to get up and going you end up spending £400. The PS3 has it all in one shiny package and so the cost is a lump sum instead of hidden costs.

Good stuff. Have you got a HD set? Though to be honest its still looks incredible on a normal tele.

Be interesting to read some of your reviews, what site did you say you write for again?

27th Mar 2007, 14:57

540air says:

Thanks guys, that's certainly given some food for thought. The idea of racing, or playing one of the Conflict: series against someone online is something I know he's interested in (and me too). :)

27th Mar 2007, 16:38

Rich says:

Don't really know what kind of accessories you're talking about there Kos, but I do kind of take your point. Admittedly if you want to play DVDs and whatnot it's more, which is a bit crap, but if you're after something purely to play games then it works out a lot better. The other bonus with sexboxism is it does have a larger library of games, and they're a lot easier to find secondhand. And you can always get him another console later ;)

27th Mar 2007, 20:57

kostika says:

£60 wireless internet adapter
£30 extra controller
£5 rechargeable battery
£10 recharge kit (comes with 1 rechargeable battery)

That's not counting if you want to buy any games other than those that come with your bundle.

Those are basics if you just want to play with other people or online. I'm not counting the £130 HD-DVD drive or any of the frivilious accessories.

27th Mar 2007, 23:13

martimus says:

yeah but you dont have to play online, and also any old wireless bridge will work fine with the 360 with a little tweaking.

Tho agreed it sucks how it doesnt have wifi out of the box, come on I know it came out a whole year ago but i reckon thats just lazy, even the wii has wifi and its only 170 quid

Theres not anything coing for ps3 that I'm fussed about tbh. Even MGS4 is coming to 360 now

28th Mar 2007, 14:01

kostika says:

I would never suggest someone go the wireless bridge route. Friend of mine did it and it does work but it was a bitch to do. A million times easier to use the wireless adapter.

It really was lazy and a big rip off to not build wifi into the console though. Even a year ago it was obvious that wifi was going to become rather popular.

I'll get a PS3 in a few months.
