i saw these guys at an all dayer daddy long legs played on monday in brixton and was seriously intrigued so jlord and i went to see them last night at the buffalo bar.
they're called so so modern and they absolutely blew us away. they're four young guys from new zealand being glitchy, jerky, funky and dirty on a plethora of synths, guitars and live drums. they sing through vocoders like daft punk and play guitar like a cross between angus young and tom verlaine all while going twiddly twiddly bloop with the other hand and bopping about the stage like hyperactive nine years olds (in matching circuit board design hoodies). you don't know where to look or how to move to it although you feel compelled to. the they blew the cobwebs out of my head and made my ears ring. can you tell i was impressed?
they also made all the retro indie rock n rollers in there with their tired cliches, rod stewart hair and 4/4 barre chord ploddery look silly... well sillier than they already looked. which was considerably silly.
they deserve to be huge.
