Hi, I'm Rick also known as Mr. C. I used to shoot with a Canon SLR, but that was a long while back. I got a new camera, an Olympus SP-510UZ on 11/06/06. I've added a Nikon D90 with a 55-200 lens to my camera bag in 2010. I'll get a camphone if Almont ever enters the 21st century.
I'm now shooting with a brand new Nikon D90 with a 55-200mm VR lens.
Thanks, Srose. We hear them all the time, but never see them. I was amazed this one was sitting there watching us, and willing to hang around for pictures.
I think we have especially dumb ones. If you had to hunt for food, these guys would be first to go..just do not move. City doves, I guess. or they like wires to perch on, and we've got a lot.
take care.
PP, there isn't really a difference, except in size and colour. In the U.S., "pigeon" is associated with birds who inhabit urban areas and feed off seed and any offerings by people; "doves" are wild. Mourning Doves (aka Turtledoves) have a beautiful 'coo', they are wonderful to hear.
We live in a very rural setting, so all our pigeons/doves are wild.
love Leonard too, Joker. from Montreal.
..first we take paris...
excuse the blog hijack, rick.
Ah, so a mourning dove is a turtle dove?
Lovely composition and the title is quite evocative.
Srose, ours here are just hard to see. you can hear them, can't see 'em.
pp,doves are flying rats? We like rats!
Thanks Geo and Viv.
JXL, thanks. Cohen is good.
Thanks D.
You're excused Srose.
OJ, I believe they're the same. Thank you. :) I don't know why, but mourning dove is the common term here.
I am of the same generation that associates any 'bird on a wire shot' with Leonard Cohen .... great capture :)
