I much prefer the standard FF font!

16th May 2007, 22:11

Alfie says:

Woooo! Yes, I am using the Ubuntu, my music is 3 hours away from being completely synched. No problems at all! :D

I quite like the presentation in FF on Ubuntu.

16th May 2007, 22:14

goode says:

much nicer than Windows... :( I've not found a real need for ubuntu yet but i am tempted to use it for browsing and music!

mat says:

apart from the transparency on the photos, it's really nice. you should set opacity: 1, if not on the img tag, then at least on .blogshot-img itself.

16th May 2007, 22:25

goode says:

Tried a few time to get that to work to no avail... :(

16th May 2007, 22:44

Rhys says:

That is very cool.

16th May 2007, 22:49

yes, this is nice.

16th May 2007, 22:52

Puddlepuff says:

Looks cool on FF. But had my PDA crash on it twice so far.

16th May 2007, 23:00

Alfie says:

PP, I wonder why that is, the image elements are really small, a little over 100kb all in all. Probably something to do with the CSS. What browser do you have on your PDA?

16th May 2007, 23:08

Puddlepuff says:

It start loading the images, right after it finishes loading:
On the moment it starts with;
The window start to jump a bit, and freezes my whole PDA. Need to do a soft reset to get it going again.

Using IE.

16th May 2007, 23:23

Alfie says:

Ah, although small in filesize, the background image is actually 1500x1200, and that's probably what IE can't deal with.

nige says:

like this. good work goody boy.

17th May 2007, 08:32

OJ says:

The only thing is that in IE* the main content pane is pushed right to the bottom of the page below your left hand nav bar - so most of the page loads blank and you have to scroll. I've had this problem with other blogs in IE.

*Yes, I know, IE sucks etc. but I'm at work and have no choice.

17th May 2007, 12:24

Judo-Jule says:

me likey it here. verrrry safe! thanks.

17th May 2007, 13:06

goode says:

OJ, it's designed for IE7 FF2 etc... It's the way forwards!

It's almost impossible to make it compatible with everything! :(

17th May 2007, 13:34

OJ says:

Goode, what did I just say? I don't choose to use IE6 but lots of people are stuck with it at work.

I'm just letting Alfie know.

17th May 2007, 14:09

mat says:

IE6 is generally considered a reasonable cut-off point as far as Microsoft support goes ('cos making things work in IE5 is more trouble than it's worth) in the industry.

ie: things should work in IE6, but not necessarily in lower versions. But it's at the discretion of the client/developer - personally, I'd never develop for "just" the latest version of everything, because of exactly people like you, OJ. The business world is always at least one version behind, and it's slow to catch up.

Regardless of that, I still think you need to sort out the transparency on the photos. That looks proper shonky, that does. If you can't make it work properly, just take it off entirely, imo.

17th May 2007, 14:23

Steve says:

I quite like it.

Mat, I don't understand what you are saying about the transparency. Which bit? Does it only show up badly in certain browsers?

17th May 2007, 14:43

Puddlepuff says:

Transparency: you can see the background image through the bloged picture.

You can see it better on this post:

17th May 2007, 17:15

Alfie says:

OJ - apparently this particular issue with the body container dropping down is something which is inevitable or something; either you make it work for IE 7 and FF (which have higher penetration than IE6) or make it work in IE6. I don't know as my CSS skillz are not so l33t.

17th May 2007, 19:37

Steve says:

Thanks PP, great example, I now understand... and agree.
