I went down a crevasse (safely)

Crevasses are cool and dangerous. Dangerous if you fall into one (they
get covered in thin bridges of snow) but cool if you abseil into one
deliberately and crawl around inside. It's like exploring limestone
caves made of ice.

Thanks, guys! No, I'm not yet back in the UK - I'm on the RRS James Clark Ross, somewhere off the coast of Brazil. I should be home on or around the 7th June. The adventure is nearly over!

rikaitch: nope, sorry! We walked backwards along the line of the rope, using crampons. Once inside, however, there was much crawling around through small holes and sliding down icy ramps, but the pictures didn't come out so well...
