This is the Roosevelt Island tramway, taken from Roosevelt island toward Manhattan. It runs parallel to the Queensboro bridge.

It's actually well worth it. I was staying on the island during my trip, and it's really a nice getaway from the city. There's a nice path right around the idland (I'll eventually post photos) and great views of downtown. There's not much else there though. The tramway entrance is around 52nd Street and 2nd Av, and is definitely worth checking out, if just for novelty value alone :)

Yup. I gave a telomere poster at the "Telomeres and Telomerase" conference in New York, and I'm giving a stem cell-related talk in Australia at the "International Society for Stem Cell Research". One of the big telomere people have also asked me to give a talk in Sydney, so I'll pop down there after the conference. I'm doing pretty good for free trips this year :)
